David Baker

Speaker Summary

David Baker is a 4th Year PhD Research Student in the Faculty of Education at Cambridge University.

His broad area of research is the design of schools. His specific thesis topic is the relationship between the physical working conditions of school staff and their wellbeing, and the impact that has on staff recruitment, retention and pupil attainment. He is developing a number of simple design interventions leading to all-round school improvement.

David has a Masters in Education Research from Cambridge, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Roehampton, and a Bachelor of Architecture from Newcastle University. For 30 years he practiced as an architect followed by 16 years as a secondary school teacher before commencing his current occupation as an education researcher.
