Carla is a global expert and thought leader, engaged in the reinvention of education elevated through digital technologies, AI and the learning sciences. She set up and ran the Think Tank the Tmrw Institute in interdisciplinary dialogue with international stakeholders in education for politics to learners, ran the Next Billion EdTech Prize for start-ups in socio-economically challenged contexts and was involved in WEF activities on AI and Childhood and the development of an associated toolkit.

Carla was Director of Futures at the Institute of Education – UCL, Global Digital Director at Cambridge University Press and Director of Digital Change at Hodder Education.
Her passion lies in the reinvention of education in international contexts and working with, mentoring and coaching start-ups as well as working with innovators, learners, policy makers, educators and academia, from early years to lifelong learning, with a learner-centred focus.
She is on the advisory board and an innovation consultant for Erasmus University Rotterdam, a member of the oversight committee for DEFI at Cambridge University (Hughes Hall) and a Trustee at Big Education, amongst others.
Carla provides thought leadership, strategic development, consultancy, advisory and coaching or mentorship to international organisations and start-ups, increasingly engaging with the AI opportunity (as well as challenges) for better learning and learner-centric education. She challenges the education status-quo.
