Full Profile

Rosies work reflects a commitment to inclusion and diversity, and to understanding how young children communicate not just through language, but through their bodies and senses, using touch, gaze, facial expression, gesture, running, walking, drawing and writing.

Her research focuses on diverse aspects of early communication, language and literacy learning. Recent studies include young children’s digital literacy practices at home and in early childhood care and education (ECEC), the digital documentation of play in ECEC, 0-3-year-olds’ digital literacy lives at home across Europe, young children’s storytelling and story acting and researching with children and young people who are living with profound disadvantage. Recent research has focussed on enhancing young children’s engagement with objects in science museums, and a current study funded by the Economic and Social Research Council that will break new ground in knowledge about 0-3-year-old children’s language and literacy play with digital media at home in diverse communities across the four UK nations.
