Session Description

‘Physical activity is vital in children’s all-round development, enabling them to pursue happy, healthy and active lives’ (DfE 2021 p 60)
This session draws on contemporary research and reports that explore the importance of physical activity for babies and young children as outlined in the forthcoming book ‘Promoting Physical Development and Activity’ (Musgrave et al April 2024). The main aim of the session is to foreground the valuable role that practitioners in early childhood education and care settings, working in partnership with parents or carers can, and do, play in supporting physical development in babies and young children.
