Session Description

We will explore the concerning decline in students’ executive functioning skills in the post-COVID era and the critical need to integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies and student-centred pedagogy into every lesson. I will showcase how an SEL lens was employed to guide my 2nd-grader students in establishing individual toy companies. Through this project, students not only learned about economics, essay writing and math standards but also developed essential life skills such as collaboration, compromise and empathy. By nurturing SEL alongside academics, we can help students thrive academically and emotionally, preparing them for a brighter future.
