Learning Theories and Pedagogical Strategies: In an increasingly digital education landscape

  • - Understanding implicit learning models in learning materials is an important area of research and concern for practitioners.
  • - Learning models should be made more explicit since they are fundamental to quality and positive impact.
  • - While we may not need learning models that are specific to ‘digital’, guidance is needed for how to apply existing models to digital resources.

Session Description

‘Digital in education’ is proliferating. Thus, digital learning resources should be underpinned by appropriate learning models to enhance attainment and equity. This presentation discusses the importance of underpinning learning theories and pedagogy, reviews theories mentioned in the literature on digital learning resources, and questions whether a ‘digital’ pedagogy is needed.
