Session Description

Introducing the new Sustained Shared Thinking and Emotional Well-being (SSTEW) Scale: supporting process quality in early childhood (Siraj, Kingston and Melhuish, 2024). The SSTEW scale is an innovative, self-evaluation tool supporting process quality for settings with 2-6-year-olds. It uplifts practice in social and emotional development, self-regulation, communication and language, higher-order thinking and problem-solving through sustained shared thinking and emotional well-being. It can also be used for audit and research. However, its best purpose is when educators use it as a reflective observational tool, to improve their practice.
