The approach to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts in schools varies depending on the specific school context. Recognising that schools worldwide have successfully engaged in DEI advocacy work, this session aims to explore global trends in DEI and education. It will delve into the influence of social context on the introduction and implementation of DEI practices in schools. Additionally, the discussion will address the pivotal role of the curriculum in ensuring the engagement of all students, as well as emphasize the crucial contributions of teachers and administrators in practising inclusive behaviour and fostering international-mindedness within their schools and among community partners. These components are integral and provide a foundation for conscientious conversations on equity, inclusion, diversity, and belonging in schools.
