Session Description

Our study builds on existing research to explore the risks and opportunities presented by AI in assessment. It explores how students might employ the technology to assist essay-based coursework assessments. Three students wrote essays with the aid of ChatGPT, and researchers compared the students’ ChatGPT logs to their final essays to identify the extent to which they had relied on ChatGPT outputs for content. The students also participated in semi-structured interviews to provide deeper insight into their perceptions and uses of the technology. Martina Kuvalja was also involved in the research project.
