Dialogue Skills for Communicating with the World

  • - Explore the meaning and power of dialogue: the difference between dialogue, discussion and debate.
  • - Understand how dialogue can equip young people with the core communication skills needed for their journeys through life and work, and to become active and open-minded global citizens.
  • - Look at ways to use dialogue in the classroom/youth clubs to support young people to understand themselves, and each other and to become more confident in articulating their beliefs and values with their peers in an authentic and non-judgmental way.

Session Description

Working with over 15,000 educators globally and reaching over 600,000 young people across 100 countries, Generation Global has equipped young people with core communication skills and the opportunity to engage meaningfully with their global peers on the issues that matter to them most. The online dialogue spaces (written space and video conferences) within the programme focus on 13 contemporary topics (many aligned with the UN SDGs), such as Climate Change, the Rights of Girls and Women, Fake News and Social Media, Health and Wellbeing, and support young people to think critically, actively listen, and think globally about a topic, whilst building their confidence in understanding and communicating their ideas and beliefs.
